As part of its statutory function the Financial Intelligence Unit (“FIU”) cooperates with domestic and international counterparts through the effective exchange of information to combat money laundering, terrorist financing and its related predicate offences. The FIU on a regular basis requests for information from domestic stakeholders and reporting entities, which may involve the submission of documents and information to the FIU.

In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, and further to the measures being implemented by the Department of Health, the FIU has found it necessary to implement alternate mechanisms for the submission of documents and information to the FIU by stakeholders and reporting entities in relation to such requests.

The FIU requests that all information and documents are submitted via email through the following procedures:

  1. All documents and information should be compressed into a password-protected file (PDF or Excel) or password-protected zipped file in instances whereby there are more than one attachment.
  2. Reporting Entities are advised to use alphanumerical passwords with a minimum of twelve (12) characters and containing symbols and letters in both upper and lower case.
  3. Email only the password-protected file to the following mailing address; [email protected] and [email protected]

All stakeholders and reporting entities are advised that physical copies of all documents submitted during this period will be collected from your respective offices once normal business operation resumes.

The FIU wishes to reassure all its partners that the confidentiality and integrity of information received by the FIU will not be compromised and that it continues to maintain very high standards in relation to the security of information.
